How to recognise a room that sounds bad
Acoustics is the extent to which sound in a room is absorbed or reflected. Hard materials such as concrete, steel and glass absorb nothing: they amplify the sound. You notice it in echo, reverberation, loud sounds that get louder and conversations that are hard to follow. The result is loss of concentration and a room that feels cold.

AkoPanel is sound-absorbing board material made of polyester fibres, 60% from recycled PET bottles: 155 bottles per full board. Light, easy to process and usable as wall cladding, ceiling baffles, desk screen, partition wall or cabinet front, also with V-groove. Our largest project, a sports hall, used 60,000 bottles.

Every room asks for something different
In the office
In an open-plan office, reverberation and colleagues' conversations lead to fatigue, loss of concentration and stress. Wall panels remove the reverberation, partition walls and desk screens dampen the direct sound between workstations, and a ceiling panel helps where the walls are full.
In hospitality
Concrete floors, lots of glass and high ceilings make a restaurant noisy and uninviting. With absorbing panels, guests can hear each other again at a normal volume, and clinking glasses are no longer amplified.
In the sports hall
Squeaking shoes, bouncing balls and whistles: in an echoing hall, instructions and warnings do not get through, and the noise load is harmful for teachers and referees. The Dutch sports federation NOC*NSF therefore sets requirements for the acoustics of sports halls.
At home
High ceilings, a concrete floor and an open kitchen look sleek, but sound hollow. Watching television or a birthday party then becomes unpleasant. A wall panel with your own photo or a ceiling panel in the colour of the ceiling solves it without standing out.
How we go about it
We visit the location to see where the reverberation comes from and what the room needs.
You receive a proposal with the amount of absorption, the location and the type of panel.
Your own photo, a logo, a stock image or a solid colour. We think along about the design.
Fit them yourself with the instructions, or our installation team hangs the panels for you.
Frequently asked questions
Can I replace the fabric later?
Yes. You order a loose fabric with a new print and stretch it into the existing frame yourself. That applies to wall panels, ceiling panels and partition walls.
Can I supply my own design?
Yes. You supply a design or photo yourself, or we help you with the design or with finding a suitable image.
How many panels do I need?
As a rule of thumb: cover 25 to 35% of the floor area with sound-absorbing material. For a room of 30 m² you therefore start with 7 to 10 m². For tailored advice we are happy to come and have a look.
